Not sure what the unlock landscape is about..
But for turn off app updates, Settings->iTunes & App Store. Scroll down to the Automatic Downloads and set Apps (and possible Music, Books, Updates) set the slider to off.

You can also turn off rotation lock (I think that's what you're looking to do) in the Control Center.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and the Control Center pane should open. There's circular buttons in a row at the top of the pane. The far-right button toggles rotation lock on or off.
