Compressing and decompressing files

Anyone know of a good compressing and decompressing app for Mavericks? I am on a genealogy kick and need to email multiple pages an pix to relatives who don't have a Mac

It's built into the OS. Just right click on the file(s) and choose compress. It creates a standard zip file.

Just for info pictures in a compressed format like jpg won't compress further.

Thanks for the replt "mrplow". Problem is .... I have no way to "right click" with my mouse

You can use CMD + Click

You must have a very old mouse !!! There are lots of right-click features in Mavericks you're missing out on

Holding CMD and clicking will do the same thing in the interim

I use Archiver. It's a paid alternative, but provides a user interface, preview and support for various formats.

Don't know about UK but in US it's control-click. And yes, you need a 3 button mouse.
