I've had my new late 2013 iMac 3.5 i.7 3TB Fusion Drive GTX780M for 10 days now and it's great.

Was thinking about upgrading to Mavericks but think I'll wait a while as there seems to be a few teething problems. Would be nice to get the free iWork software too. Later.

App Store tells me I have 1 Software Update available (imac SMC Firmware Update 1.1) but in the details it is recommended for iMacs with flash only storage. As I have a Fusion Drive is this still ok to update?

Thanks

Graham

The reason you were notified that a SMC firmware update was available is because you do have flash storage (Fusion drive) on your iMac. However, since it says for flash storage only, I would contact Apple and ask them before installing the update.

Thanks chscag for your reply.

I contacted apple and they said I should update to 1.1 so I did it and all seems fine.

I also asked if it would be better to upgrade to Mavericks now and he suggested, unoffically, that I wait for the next update.
Although when I said I had Time Machine backing up he said it would probably be ok if I upgraded now as I could always restore from TM.

But I think I'll wait it out anyway.
