OSX Maverick upgrade iphone sync problems with Calendar & contacts

Hi Since upgrading to OSX Maverick the sync for iPhone calendar and contacts is no longer functioning and this appears to be a known issue Can anyone advise how best to manage the problem?

I have the same problem with both my iPhone and iPad since I installed Maverick on my MacBook Pro.

Hi hjm. It's been a while since I sorted it out but as far as I can remember on the iPhone go into settings - iCloud and activate Contacts and Calendars With wi fi on it has been syncing ok

You won't like this, but:

Turn on iCloud in System Preferences.

Or install a CardDav server.

Same for the Calendar - iCloud or CalDav server.

Syncing contacts and calendars via iTunes is no more.

There are free CalDav and CardDav servers available, or you can get OS X Server.
