I don't know what I changed on this computer, but I can't log into the App store or Itunes. The message I receive is incorrect ID or password. How do I correct this? I am getting very frustrated.

Did you just download and install Mavericks using your Apple ID and password? And is this computer a new one you purchased or was it purchased from someone else?

Try to sign in at the main Apple ID page - here.

Or use one of the links to have info emailed to the address you have on record.

I've had this computer since 2009 and it was bought new. It's a MacMini running 10.6.8. I've used the App Store and Itunes before with no problems. Could there be something wrong with the website? I'm trying to purchase and download a weather app. I just tried again a little while ago and when I hit the "buy" button, nothing happens, but the little busy icon keeps spinning. I know my ID and password are correct. What is Mavericks?

That doesn't work either.

Hi Hschaars - Mavericks (bold above) is the newest OS X being offered by Apple for 'free' - I'm currently running Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.5), so you are a little behind the OS X updates - Mavericks is 10.9.x - just for starters, did you attempt an 'upgrade' to this new OS? Dave :)

I don't know. The other day I got notification that there were new software updates. There were three that I wanted, so I checked the boxes to download them, but when the downloads were done, there were no apps left in the new downloads which is strange, because I only checked 3. I can't remember if Mavericks was one of them. I don't know why all the apps downloaded and I don't know if that was one of them. Would the Mavericks app have appeared in my new updates even though I have OSX10.6.8?

Well, I've not done the Mavericks upgrade yet (in the near future because the iWork suite has been updated) - but this is a long DL and install time and would require you to reboot your Mac - likely not done on your computer if this did not occur.

Of course, you can always go to the 'Apple Logo' in the upper left corner (assume that exists in your OS X version?) and simply click on 'About This Mac' and the version of OS you have running will be indicated - let us know - Dave :)

My version is OS X 10.6.8.

Another strange thing. When I go on the App Store App and go down to Quick Links and I click on Account, nothing happens. It's as if no account exists for me anymore. The only quick link that works is support. How can I get my account back? I want to get a weather app.

1.Open App Store - click on Store on the Menu bar and Sign Out
Do the same in iTunes
Log out of your account and back in.
Try to log in.

2. Try a SMC reset

3. Reset your modem

4, Have you installed or turned on a Firewall or Little Snitch or any such thing. Could be blocking the Storeagent.

Nope, nothing works. What if I tried to create a new account with my information?

I just realized something. I just tried creating a new account with my information. My password, which has worked for years doesn't have any capital letters. When I used my email to create a new account, the message said you must have at least one capital letter. I never had a capital letter before. Could this be why I can't log in? Should I create a new account? I'm confused.

Don't create a new account. You won't have access to any of your previous content/purchases.

You need to use the link above to reset your password

No, it would not be. New rules for creating passwords does not affect existing passwords.

Which link above? I would need to log into my account to reset my password. This is my problem, I can't log in. When I get to the page where it says it will email my password, the email never comes. When I click on the button to enter my birth date, the message comes back that it doesn't exist. I am completely locked out and have no clue why. I haven't changed anything.

This one from Bobs first post, there's an 'I forgot my password' option. No need to log in.

You will, of course, need to know the details that were used when the account was setup.

These are the messages I receive.

" No Apple ID found.

We can't find an Apple ID matching the information you provided. You may have entered a name that doesn't exactly match our records. Try again"

"Please verify your birth date to continue." When I enter my birth date, I get this message.

"The authentication information provided does not match our records. Please verify your personal information and try again."

Sorry if this is stating the obvious but It sounds like your not using the username for your account. Are you certain the AppleID username you're using is correct? Perhaps you have a receipt in your email etc that you check against?

Does the ID have to be an email address? I seem to remember changing my ID to "hschaars" from "[email protected]" a while back. I did order from Itunes and the App Store a while back. But now "hschaars" and "[email protected]", but nothing works now.

When I hit the button for email authentication, I never receive an email.

If you aren't sure of you're information I'm not sure I can be be of much more help I'm afraid. I'd suggest calling Apple. They should be able to confirm your AppleID username based upon the payment method etc that you have on the account.
