I upgraded my iMac to Maverick. I can't put my DVD into the DVD drive anymore. It does not accept it. It's almost as if a DVD is already in there, but its not. I don't know if the upgrade has anything to do with this. Does anyone know what the issue might be?

Probably coincidental. Buy a can of compressed air and blow some compressed air into the drive slot which might help to remove dust and dirt, if any, from the drive. Then try the disk again.

I just tried that. It didn't help. I read on another forum that someone has the same problem.

Don't know what to tell you... I have a 2011 iMac just updated to Mavericks and the optical drive works OK. I really can't see what Mavericks would have to do with the drive not working but I've seen stranger things happen. I'll try to look around the Apple forums and see if I can find anything out for you.

Is it possible that LittleSnitch is prohibiting it from working correctly?
I have an appointment for the Apple Store tomorrow. This is the third time I am bringing my iMac in for service. :( Thank God I purchased AppleCare.

LittleSnitch monitors network traffic and has nothing to do with the optical drive.

When was the last time you used the optical drive prior to upgrading to Mavericks?

I always use the optical drive. I noticed after the upgrade it has a problem. I am bringing my iMac to the Apple Genius today. :'( Thank God for AppleCare!

Apple uses genuine new parts when they repair your machine. They do, however, sell refurbished Macs which they fully guaranty the same as new. Glad to hear your optical drive has been replaced. Obviously it had nothing to do with Mavericks unless your iMac has a demon. And if that's the case, you'll need to hire an exorcist. ;P
