Folders show empty for about 30 seconds

Strange little glitch i have since Mavericks update, when i first enter my documents/folder after turning on my mac, this could be straight away or even an hour after boot, my folders are all empty, no music,pictures, documents, downloads etc etc then after about 30 seconds of switching between folder views and folders it finally shows all my files.

Any ideas?

There's a delay if the folder contains a lot of files. How many files do you have in these folders? If you show the status bar (View > Show Status Bar), do you see the pinwheel spinning in the bottom right?
