For starters...some Mac's cannot run Mavericks. Without more details...we cannot determine if your Mac is in this category. Once we determine this...then we can investigate other areas.

We need more details - what are the specs of your machine? How are you trying to install Mavericks? What have you tried thus far?

By the way, that link is broken.

It's a Mac Book Pro 10.8.5 and Maverick was offered in the Ap store during an upgrade.
I downloaded it ok but won't install.

How full is your hard drive (amount used & amount free)?

When you try to run the Mavericks installer, exactly what happens and what does it tell you?

It tries to install with a time of 44 minutes but I get the warning after a few minutes:

INSTALL FAILED
OSX could not be installed on your computer

OSX can't be installed on your computer on the disk Macintosh HD, because a recovery system can't be created.Visit www.apple.com/support/no-recovery

Tried that and all it suggested was to increase the partition in the disc utility application. Did as I was instructed but no joy.

Any ideas??

Make sure your hard drive is formatted as HFS Plus. In other words, the hard drive is formatted "journaled". If it's not journaled, Mavericks will not install. You can check that from Disk Utility or from your Apple menu - system report, storage.

Also, if you have any other partitions on the drive besides OS X 10.8.5 and Recovery, Mavericks will not install. Another reason may be the condition of the hard drive - bad sectors, etc. You can check and verify your hard drive with Disk Utility.

Let us know.

Do you have a bootcamp partition or any other partitions besides the main one for OSX?
