Dock Background in Mavericks

How do I get rid of the grey dock background?

Applications designed to change the Dock haven't worked since Lion. I'm not sure there is a way to change the color of the Dock background. I did manage to get the Dock indicators changed but that was like pulling teeth....

I gave up trying, figure some wizard will figure it out. I chose to hide the Dock so I don't have to look at it.
