Hi,

I'm looking to add more RAM to my Mac and was bamboozled by the results of my Google search.
Apple UK's site said there was no ram available. Hopefully I can find something on Ebay or somewhere else.

Can someone point me in the right direction so I don't end up buying the wrong thing?

Hardware Overview:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number of Processors: 2
Total Number of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per Processor): 12 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.25f4
Hardware UUID: 2D7FCCC9-DF25-5764-AC05-D0D5FBBF5BAD

I use my Mac for music (Logic Pro, Pro Tools) and as a general comp. I've not changed anything other than putting in a USB PCIe slot since new, so it's not done bad.

If you need any more info, let me know.

Thanks for your help.

It uses "PC6400 DDR2 ECC" RAM.

You can find that and more at everymac.com.

Check out OWC (which does ship to the UK) and probably can find some at Amazon UK.

As a suggestion from an old Mac Pro user, pop 8GB minimum in, and if the readies run to it, an OWC solid state drive as the boot drive.
