SSD to Mac Mini

For Mac Gurus. I am adding an SSD Drive to my Mac Mini, which is not the hard part to do. How can I make my mac boot from it? How to install the OS to it? Etc.

I need some help, please.

Which Mac Mini, year, model? What version of OS X is it running?

And, is the SSD an additional drive or does it replace the original hard drive?
