No lower case "Y" in dialogue boxes!

Here's a weird problem: I am not able to tYpe a lower case "Y" in a message box in Safari! Ever other alef bet works abcedfghijklmnopqrstuvwxz - but not the lower case "Y". As You can see, the upper case "Y" works fine, but the lower case "Y" produces no character at all, like "". No space, no wrong letter, just no letter at all!
I have onlY "ClickToFlash" and Reload Button installed as extensions. Mail works fine - apparentlY onlY Safari. FireFox works oka and so does Chrome. Safari Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1)
Mac OS 10.8.5 2.2Ghz I-7 8GB mem.
An Ideas?

Check your Safari Preferences, Advanced, Default Encoding. Make sure "Western ISO Latin 1" is selected.
