Problems with Assassins Creed II

I am using mac os snow leopard. Assassins Creed II is not loading reliably - sometimes it takes several attempts and others I have to run disk repair permissions and/or enter the sudo periodic daily weekly monthly command. The problems consist of the icon stalling when I press 'load'. How can I troubleshoot the problem please?
