Mackbook pro mouse not clicking?

Hey guys, a friend got a Macbook Pro, he says the mouse is moving around the screen as normal but it can't click on anything, is this software or hardware related please?

2019 iMac 27"; 2020 M1 MacBook Air; macOS up-to-date... always.
More likely he's not clicking it right. You didn't mention if this is an old or new MBP; what OS he's running, etc etc etc. For a single (left) click, he needs to be sure to use only one finger and either press down on the bottom of the trackpad or tap on the pad. For a right-click, use 2 fingers. Here's a video to review:
