I still have my trusty D200 from 2006 :) It traveled with me through china for a year and captured a lot of photos. Haven't even considered upgrading to a newer body. I use a combo of fx and dx lenses on it. Hopefully when I find out how to post images I put some up.

To post images, you can do it 2 different ways. You can upload the image to a Image Sharing Site like Imgur, Flickr or Imageshack (or whoever you use) then get the URL for that image then looking at the below image click where it says, and paste URL into it and then OK. Don't worry about it coming from a 27" iMac as this way, the image is resized to fit the forum and browser window.
bK4YYJs.jpg

The second way, is to click on the "Go Advanced" tab at there bottom of this Reply window, then look for the Manage Attachments. That opens a window that you can then upload a image from your Mac/PC and it will be posted at the bottom of the thread in the Attachments window.
Its here that you need to make sure the image is no bigger than 800x600 because the forum can't resize the image to fit.
Wuz9yKX.jpg

It can be tricky this way for first attempt, so once you have chosen the image, open the window up wider and there is a upload button, click that and the image will upload. You will then see it below in Current Attachments. If you get a warning or it doesn't upload, this means the Attachment sits outside the constraints of the Forum Rules, and then you need to resize or reduce the image size ie: MB size to be able to upload. See below

My camera came in yesterday after a delayed delivery. FINALLY!! I also managed to picked up 2 64gb SanDisk SD SDXC cards from BestBuy while they were on sale for $34. That was an awesome price!

I'm no pro, and I'm not one who should quantify or judge how good cameras are, but this camera rocks for me! I'm really happy I got it:)

RavingMac, I tested some close-up shots with the kit lens, and with manual controlling, I can get those shots I want just perfectly. It won't do it in auto with the kit lens though, which isn't even remotely an issue.

Bokeh ~ Nice :)

Love the setup as well, but i know you will get a lot of enjoyment out of the 3200. I love my D7000 and my 70-300mm Macro gets here tomorrow so I'm looking forward to getting some close up (its Rose season at the moment) and then knocking it up to my 2x Tele Convertor and getting probably 530mm Zoom but dropping a f stop or 2 :)
Don't be shy, I'm keeping this thread going as the "Learners Thread" and the images we can produce in the fun stage of photography. Experimenting ;)

Thank you, kind sir:)
I've been so busy lately, that I've had no time to play with any of my new "toys." I'm hoping I'll get some free time at the end of this week to test try some better shots.
Those images look a lot better in raw format. Compressed for smaller images take away a lot of detail.

Well my 70x300 Sigma Macro arrived and went and played in the garden quickly for a little, because its 42c in the shade at the moment but anyways.
The first car images, I'm at 47mtrs from it, and the first was shot at 300mm then the 2nd was with a Kenko 2x Converter on the camera and then the Sigma and shot at 300mm taking it to 450-480mm zoom

Now the little ornaments where shot from >95cm away at the 200-300mm Macro (its the only length that Macro kicks in)
Im actually very very impressed with the quality of the images. All where Manual focus and i especially like the Fish Mouth one, seeing so far inside it with such nice clarity in the darker area.
The Froggy Thinker, has also got a lot of detail, and great colour in it, All in all its a great Lens, but it does feel very plastic like, and when zooming in or out, it grabs and isn't so smooth, and the plastic really stands out in this instance.
That seems to be the only downfall for it at the moment, but i do like it v/much

I need to look into one of those 2x converters for wild life photos.. Isn't it a spacer between the lens and camera body?

Yea thats basically what it is.

There are many different types, but i found the Kenko with Nikon Mount had good reviews and they don't seem to get any vignetting or distortion on the edges, and for the price i couldn't be happier. This one cost $200 AUD but there are some out there that go up to $600+

But the close up car image was with the converter and my 300mm at full length and the edges are clean and clear. . . . Would be excellent for Wildlife Photography

Actually started looking at them after your post. I would get one, but I need a better telephoto lens that has image stablization. Then perhaps a 1.4x to go with it. Did some reviews and many go with the 1.4x because its slightly clearer and only loose to f-stop of lighting.

That and a 300mm x 1.4 x 1.6 = 672mm equivalent focal length.

I think the image quality falls off with 2x TCs. Used to be loss of light was their downfall but most newer DSLRs have pretty good ISO ranges allowing for shutter speeds to shoot birds etc.
1.4 TCs are pretty reliable and 1.7s work with many lenses but a little googling might be necessary.

WELL you are not going to believe what i have just done.

Sold my D7000 on eBay and bought a D7100 :D

Thought i would see what i could get, so put the Ninon D7000 on eBay with the 55-200mm Lens and got a bite within 15hrs with a Buy Now Price of $800. I woke this morning and saw i got a PayPal of $814.80 in my account, knew exactly what it was, so went and bout the D7100 for $919, so basically payed $100 for it really, because what the D7000 cost and lens was around the price i asked so i jumped at it.

Now I'm a happy camper and I'm glad too, because Apple supported the D7100 in there last update . . . .

Woohoooooo haha

I would say you got a deal! :D

D7000 is a great camera, but so is the d7100 . . . and in someways better.
I keep going back and forth between the two trying to decide. Right now I'm leaning d7100.
