Unable to play movies from itunes to my hdTV

I am unable to play movies from Itunes to my HDTV. It says TV is not HDPC or something like that. I have read other forums and it says there is some sort of protection on this. Is there anything I can do to change this?

What video port are you connecting to on the TV?
What other ports are available on the TV?
Your best guess as to the age of the TV.

TV is Phillips 47 inch HD 5 years old
4 HDMI ports.
Mac is the Macbook Pro without Retina Bought within the last couple of months.
Using Thunderbolt mini to HDMI adapter with HDMI cables.
