ICal alert help

Hi!

Sometimes when I enter a calendar event, I want ti to inform me 1 hr before, 1 day, etc.. So I check alert- 1 hour before I was hoping it would give me a verbal chime or something, but it doesn't.. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

I'm also not at my Mac, but there are two components here: one is the time, the other is the type of alert. Make sure you've chosen the one that best suits your needs. I always choose the one that makes the box pop up on my screen; no sound.
