Hi there,
I have a new(ish) Mac mini, and a 3 year old Macbook pro 13inch.
On both machines, I cannot print to pdf. They report a print error.
I am on ML 10.8.4
Anyone else having problems?
I there is an inherent issue, can anybody recommend an alternative program.

Ta

You should be able to either save to PDF and then print or print directly to PDF from TextEdit. Have you tried to save your document to PDF first and then print it? Also, which printer are you using?

Sorry. I must not have explained properly.
I select print, pdf, save as pdf.
It then reports a print error.
Happens on both my machines, so that would point to software error.

Do you get any sort of error message beyond "print error"?

I have attached a screen print of the error.
When this happens (and it does it most of the time but every time) it produces the pdf file, but the file is empty. i.e. has no text.

Quick follow up.
I meant to say " it does it most of the time but NOT every time".

Also, I may be solving my own issue. I have become so used to "printing" to a pdf both on OSX and Windows (all day at work), that I failed to notice that TextEdit has an "Export to pdf" in it's drop down menu. That seems to work OK at the moment.

Glad you found it. That's what I was hinting at when I replied to you above.....

Whilst export does work, it still remains that the print to pdf function from within TextEdit has a fault somewhere.
