Please forgive if this is somewhere else, I've looked up as best as I could, but I couldn't find it....

How old is your oldest intel mac? My specs are as follows

Late 2006 17" C2D 2GHZ 2GB RAM Everything else is stock...Mouse and KB as well, No issues whatesoever, Running BC windows 7, too...

I figured there are quite a few "Oldest mac" threads, but none intel specific.. Kinda shallow, i know but still....

The oldest Intel Mac I own is the first Generation 2006 Mac Mini. It came with a Core Duo Intel CPU at 1.66Ghz and I believe 512 Megs Ram. I have since installed a 2.16 Core2Duo 64-Bit Intel CPU from a 24" iMac that a friend destroyed and had upgraded the RAM to 2GB which was Maximum with the included Firmware. Well not long ago I found a site that gave me Firmware for my Mini that was from the next Generation 2007 Mini and allows me to use 3GB Ram. That really helps with Lion and Mountain Lion (Yes ML!!! :D).

With 3GB Ram, new 320GB hard drive and C2D CPU it still for basic uses keeps up with even ML. runs very fast and smooth as long as I don't try and run 20 things at the same time like I do with my iMac! :D

Other than that 2006 I own a late 2007 Santa Rosa chipset C2D Macbook with 4GB RAM and ML and my also late 2007 2.4Ghz C2D 20" iMac with 6GB RAM and ML.

I have a 20" and a 24" white 2006-the last models before the nasty reflective glass screens which I hate...

Did you know with Suction Cups you can take off that Glass. The border around the screen won't look the best but you will be viewing the direct LCD.

LOL, for the new 21.5" and 27" iMacs you need a heat gun to unglue the glass. I guess that's what we call progress Dennis. ;)

I think he was talking about the ones with the glass that uses magnets and no Glue! Glue! Wow! Just WOW! :D Grin

Soon us computer techs will have to put a heating iron and glue gun in our kits to work on systems! :D
