Hello

So i just purchased a new MBP With Apple-Care yesterday from the apple store and have a few questions.

I would like to install a Kingston HyperX SSD i have laying around and ditch the optical drive. Will this void my warranty and Apple-Care? Does this just screw right in? If it will void my Apple-Care warranty then read no further.

I also noticed my MBP did not ship with a OS Disk. How could i install my OS on my SSD?

Thanks!

Technically, removing the optical drive may void your warranty if something goes wrong with your MBP and you take it to Apple. The key here is if something does go wrong - and you don't put the MBP back in the condition it was sold as; in other words put back the optical drive before you take it on in. Changing the hard drive or memory does not void your warranty. Of course any damage incurred by you when replacing the hard drive or removing the optical drive would not be covered anyway.
