I am on Mountain Lion and every time I set a desktop picture it stays there, until I switch off and back on again when it reverts back to the default pic. I never had this problem with previous versions of the OS. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. I am logging in to my user account. I am changing the image by going to System Preferences/Desktop & Screensaver/ and selecting a pic from a folder called pictures.

Under 'Users & Groups' under 'Current User' my name has 'Admin' under it. Does that help?
