Hey guys,

Has anyone got a rough guess at when the new Mac Pro will be released?

I am actually going to get an iMac but im assuming the price of the iMac will go down a bit when a price for the new Mac Pro exists.

Anyone know anything?

To answer your question.... your guess is as good as anyone else's. Apple pretty much keeps the release of new items to themselves. The new Mac Pro was promised for this year and there's a lot of the year left to go.... ;) As far as the price of the iMac is concerned, why should that be impacted by a new Mac Pro? Different beasts.

I'd have to agree about the assumption of the iMac going down in price. Unlikely to affect iMac pricing at all.

I'd guess the Mac Pro will start at $2500-$3000 and go up from there and that's without the $1,000 screen that comes with the 27" iMac.

How much better is a standard new Mac Pro than the latest top of the range iMac 27''

It will be released when Apple decides its ready, and it will cost exactly what Apple wants to charge for it. No one ever has, or will know this information until Apple tells us.

According to the recent trailer in theatres, the Mac Pro will be released "this fall." That gives them until December 20th to get it out. :)

The current best iMacs are good rivals to the current Mac Pros, but the new Mac Pro is expected to be at least 100 percent faster.

At this time, we have no idea. The complete specs have not been released. Would guess the dual FirePro GPUs with 6 GB of memory in it are more than twice as fast as the GPU in the current top of the line iMac. Would need to go look up benchmarks to verify that though.

We don't know which FirePro will be in the Mac Pro. But, here is newegg's price on one of them - link.
