I have a Samsung portable DVD Writer model SE-208. I cannot get it to work with my MacBookPro Retina. Is there a way I can get it to work?

That is a USB 2.0 device and should work fine with your rMBP. What happens when you plug it in?

SE 208 works just great with an iMac. Did have to purchase a USB hub in order to plug both USB power leads in to get powered up.

I have a SE-S084 (Samsung) that works great from the USB on my 2011 iMac. No hub or dual plug needed.

The SE-208 initially does nothing. I can open it put in a CD or a DVD and it spins. It sees nothing and after about 30 seconds it stops. The only thing to left to do is remove the disc and give up.
