Swap different speed logic boards on retina MBP?

Hi, I found similar threads, but no answer to my question...
Can I swap a 2.9ghz retina logic board into a retina MBP that has a dead 2.5, 2.6, etc? Are they all compatible? Seems like they should all be the same board with different chips, but IDK if the bios or firmware would allow this swap. Any tinkerers done this before?
