hi folks, new forum user here

I have a macbook pro 2.6 ghz from early 2008, if I remember correctly

I think I need a new left fan, but I'm not sure how to identify it. There is not a serial on the bottom of the machine, as it is worn off

thanks for your help

G'day and welcome to the forums.

The 2.6GHz introduced in February 2008 is model No. A1260, a MBP 4.1.
