Imac running 10.8.4
About a month ago I noticed the number 2 had appeared under the hard drive symbol on my desktop. Does anyone know what this signifies and does it constitute a problem of any sort?

From what you describe...it sounds like the name of your HD was accidentially renamed "2". I would simply click the this "2"...and rename the HD.

If I am misunderstanding...please post a screenshot of the issue.

If this is just a naming thing...it definitely does not constitute any sort of problem.:)

Thanks,

Even better go into Finder Preferences and remove from the desktop if it is a worry to you.
