- cMBP 13" mid-2012, 2.9 ghz i7, 8gb ram, 256 gb SSD,
Hello. I have a very similar problem as this thread: http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/os-x-operating-system/297821-abnormal-ram-usage-when-all-main-applications-closed.html
Here is the screenshot of my Activity Monitor:
Is this RAM usage normal? I'm running Maxthon which is a Chromium browser, Mail, Adium, and TextEdit.
Sometimes my RAM gets so low that the Free ram is less than 10MB and then my computer freezes a little bit and eventually returns to normal. Why would this be happening? I usually don't have a ton of apps open. I thought 8GB of ram was sufficient which is why I upgraded the RAM from 4GB. I am seriously thinking of purchasing 16GB RAM to replace these 2 4GB sticks. How in the world do other Mac users only survive on 4GB ram??
