Hi I just bought the new iphone 5 and I went to transfer my music from my macbook 10.5.8 but my iphone won't recognise my itunes saying its too old. I am unable to download a newer version of itunes as there are no further updates available for it. Is there anyway I can transfer my music without going to great expense?

Welcome to Mac-Forums..

Unfortunately, the iPhone 5 needs a new version of iTunes, which need at least Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or higher version of OS X.

If your Macbook cannot be (or you are not ready at this time) upgraded to Snow Leopard or higher, your only choice (depending on hold old you Macbook is) is to install Windows XP/7, either through a Virtualization software like VirutalBox/VMWare Fusion/Parallels or alongside OS X through Boot Camp and install the newer version of iTunes on there and sync with your phone..
