The "sell older models" approach seems to be working quite well for Apple. Why would they, a company that doesn't like fracturing product lines, make a "light" model when the current approach works so well?
The old way of keeping secrets in and out of Apple seem to be fading since we are getting a lot of information about future Apple products before launch..
