Hello,

I have Macbook pro having DVD Player HL-DT-ST DVDRW GS31N. I have installed Win 7 too.

I am facing this problem first time. The DVD does not play due to Region Code. Current region is 1.
So after lot of search I come to know that it is with the Player. So, now I want to ask here that can I make my DVD player Regionfree or should I use software to play DVD if any and if such softwares are available then is it good for the DVD Player or not?

Is apple supports this? This is horrible that when you purchase a DVD and it is limiting you to bcz of Region.

Appreciate your help.

Thanks
Archita

Welcome to the world of DVD. Such has been the case since the DVD was introduced almost 20 yrs ago.
(Amazing - the DVD not yet 20 years old)

Use VLC to play your non-region 1 discs.

Thank you for your response.

But as I have asked you as per my normal search some post shows that using VLC to run the non region 1 dvd is/ may harmful to DVD Players.

Sorry but would like to reconfirm to be on safer side.
Thank a lot.
