when upgrading my 2009 macbook pro to this years macbook pro, my word program is no longer working. I have called apple support they send me to Microsoft. Microsoft tells me I need the activation code from the original CD. Have no clue where that is??? Am I doomed?

The activation code or "product key" is located on the inside of the Office folder and is pasted on the back of the yellow cardboard CD holder. It consists of 5 series of 5 alpha numeric characters. If you lost or misplaced the CD holder, then I'm afraid you'll have to purchase another copy.

However, instead of Office you can download and use the free LibreOffice Suite.

And Office 2004 is not compatible. Larger suites like Office and Adobe do not migrate well and usuallyrequire re-activation.
