Hi, brand new poster. I'm having problems getting my Mac book to stay connected to wifi. It usually connects without issue then will act like its disconnected. By that I mean it still shows a connection, but appears to be searching for a wifi connection. I see this when I click on the wifi icon at upper right in the bar. I thought I had read something a few months ago that said these units had this issue and a patch fix was coming. The last update I received seemed to help at first then went back to doing the disconnect again. Again, when I look at the connection it is indicating that it is indeed connected, but I have no Internet service on the Mac. My other devices connect fine and stay connected,,so it's not my system. Thoughts?

Unless you've typed in the wrong model, my Mactracker shows this to be a Mid 2012 15" MacBook Pro with Retina display. (It's important to tell us the exact model you have as not everyone has access to the model designation numbers.) Also, which version of OS X are you running? (I assume it's Mountain Lion)

Did you download this firmware update? LINK

Amazing, I didn't know you could tell which one. You hit it right on.
I am new to apple as of a few months ago. I think I may have found the issue or the fix anyway when I found a link to the mountain lion wifi issue thread. So far so good. I made some suggested changes and it hasn't dropped yet and even better it only searches for a couple secs before stopping I think this was my problem as it used to get stuck in the wifi network search mode. In any case thanks for your quick reply.
