• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I've been burning family movies on to DVD's in the past on my PC but with my videos being in HD and now using Final Cut Pro I think that's kind of a waste of quality.

I've never owned a Blu-ray burner before so I'm coming to you fine folks for suggestions.

I have a 2011 iMac that I'm working on and would like to know what you might recommend as a suitable yet not too expensive External Blu-ray burner to get the job done.

Thanks for any assistance and input. I do appreciate it.

Thanks for the link Nick. I don't know what's good or not but I'll continue to research.

Are all the burners compatible with Mac? Most I've looked at make no mention of PC or Mac, just that they are plug and play.

All of the ones in the link are compatible...since OWC is a Mac specific supplier.:)
