Colour problems with HDMI cable and adapter

Hi,

I've just got an HDMI cable and adapter for my Mac. When connecting it to my TV I have no problems getting a screen image up, and so on. The problem I have is the colour I get on the TV screen - everything is saturated in a pink hue. I've tried calibrating it and adjusting the colour on my TV screen but nothing helps. Can anyone tell me if there is anything else I should do, or if there is a fault with either the cable or adapter?

A heavy tint typically means a loose connection (most often) or a cable with an open (broken wire) in it (less often).

I would unplug everything and plug it all back in.
Do any of the connections have play in them?

Have another HDMI cable you can try?

I've checked for loose connections and tried both HDMI ports on my TV but still get the same result. I suppose the next logical step is try another cable. Let's see what gives.

There are quite a few reports of some Samsung models having a red tint to them after connecting a computer to the TV. Most of them from using a VGA connection, but not all. However, those reports also indicate that the red tint remains on the TV no matter what device/connection you're watching afterwards. Did not find a report of a fix/firmware update or other except replacing the TV under warranty done in several cases.

My TV's a Sony Bravia. Anyway, I've just tried linking up to another TV and it worked well - not colour issues! This is really annoying as I had planned to use it with my main TV. The curious thing this is that when I go to the HDMI set-up menu on the TV, it doesn't register that my Mac is connected so it won't update. Must be a problem with the TV.

Did you try a different HDMI port on the Sony to see if it's only a single port that has this issue?

Yes, I've got two ports and it's the same with both.

You have another device connected to the TV via HDMI - that doesn't have the problem?
Tried switching the HDMI cables between it and the Mac?

At this point, would still guess it's the adapter or cable and just happened to get them in the right position on the 2nd TV.

If you don't have anything else connected via HDMI, but can do so, would... to make sure it's not the HDMI connections/board on the TV.
