Imac 21.5 Mid 2011 (16 GB Ram). Apple TV. Iphone 5
Hi guys,

I have an I-Mac Mid 2011. I was just checking out the system menu's today and found that I only have 45 G left of 500G. I didn't think that I had used that much. When I checked Memory in about this mac I found that there seem to be some discrepancies.

I downloaded Disk Inventory X and found the same discrepancies. I have attached screen captures.

Any help would be great on this

Thanks, Conor

Sorry how do I add screen captures? Found how to upload from reading another post!!

The results in "About this Mac" > "More Info..." show all video files on your machine, not just those in the Movies folder (the same goes for the other categories and their respective folders). You'll want to check other folders for the content in each of those categories.

Pretty obviously, the photos is the issue judging from your screen shot there. Perhaps you have a super-large library, but I suspect you have imported your photos into iPhoto and then left your originals still there, so you have two collections of the same photos.

Thanks for your help guys.
I was wondering if there is a program I can run that will find duplicates for me??
What way would you go about clearing some space?
Also, I can't believe that I have 72G in "other". What could this be?

Thanks again,

Conor

I also have a 1tb My Book drive. I had all my photos from my old PC on this. Would I be able to store all pics and movies on this and free up disk space?

Absolutely - whatever you move elsewhere can help you free up space on your machine.
