can't get around password!!

I just bought an imac g4 from someone,they are gone and I'm stuck,I can't get past the log in because there is a password on it. What the **** should I do? can I switch hard drives-and how in the world would I do that?

20" iMac C2D 2.16ghz, 13" MacBook 2.0ghz, 60gb iPod vid, 1gb nano
If you have the OSX cds that came with the computer you can reinstall OS X and start fresh.

If you have the cd's what you do is put in the first disc and restart the computer. when the imac starts up hold down C and it will boot from CD and you can reinstall OS X and solve the password problem

that works ... or when you boot up from the CD, under the Installer Menu, choose Reset Password . and fill in the spaces accordingly
