I have a Macbook Pro 2.26 Model 5.5
I intend to use this machine for HD video Editing
Adobe CS2 Premiere

I am considering replacing the 5400 160 internal HD with:
1.0TB 2.5" HGST Travelstar 7K1000 7200RPM SATA 2.0 3Gb/s 9.5mm Notebook Drive 32MB

and installing a second hard drive where the optical drive is:
OWC DIY Kit: Data Doubler + 240GB OWC Mercury Electra 3G
SSD Drive Bundle + 5 Piece Toolkit.

SSD will be system drive
Travelstar to be media drive.

This will cost about $400.00

The OWC salesperson I spoke with said I will get an enormous
boost in read and write speeds.

Questions:

Is this a good investment in terms of performance.
Is this the best configuration for the 2 hard discs?
Are these the best hard drives for my purposes?
Alternative configuration suggestions....

Your Mac's Specs
Silver M1 iMac 512/16/8/8 macOS 11.6
Your MBP is a 2009 model so personally think money better spent updating. It will still be a 2.26Ghz processor and nowhere near as fast as an i5 or i7.

This is very old and equipment for what you want to do. While possible, I certainly wouldn't spend $400 on a machine that's probably not even worth as much as that.

I'd put that $400 towards something a lot newer, and update to Final Cut Pro X (suggested because its inexpensive, not because its necessarily "better" -- it's years and years ahead of CS2 though).
