Trackpad features sometimes suddenly stop working

Hello everybody!

I have this problem where I suddenly sometimes become unable to use some features of my trackpad. These features include the swiping between full-screen apps, notification center and mission control. I can still use the trackpad itself to control the cursor.

I do not know why this problem comes up but it happens a lot to me (all of a sudden) and I have to either log out or restart to fix it.

Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong and what I can do to avoid this?
