Hi everyone I just purchased my MacBook pro 15 inch yesterday and I think there is a problem with it. The battery life is draining way too fast (about 1% per 5 mins). The brightness is on 4, the lit keyboard is off, only wifi is on. I have closed all programs running in the background. I dont know what is wrong- should I go to the store to return it and get another one? Please let me know!

1% every 5 minutes would indicate over 8 hours up time.
Apple is only claiming "up to" 7 hours.

Would suggest you use the computer through at least 2-3 battery cycles before considering that there may be something wrong.

Good one Tom!:)

I've done this calculation before...and forgot about doing it in this case. Like you mentioned...1% battery drain every 5 min works out to be a total runtime on a single charge of 8+ hours (assuming a steady energy demand).

Or (for the OP):

- 1 hour = 12% battery charge used
- 2 hours = 24% battery charge used
- 3 hours = 36% battery charge used
.
.
.
- 8 hours = 96% battery charge used
