ibook g3 does not find airport card that is installed

hello my ibook g3 says the appropiate hardware is not found on the computer when i start airport admin utility. I just installed the original airport card and it doesn't recognize the hardware. what do i do? my os is 10.2.8 and my airport is 3.1.1. I tried to install airport 3.1.1 again but the system says it still does not find the airport card and says for me to install it and shut it down. ...help...

Does it show up in system profiler?

I am having the same problem. It was recognized before then I took it out at one point to check out my ram, now its not detected at all. i didnt bend any pins or anything.. and it doesnt appear in system profiler. is there some sort of hardware detection i can use.. how do i know what airport i have? (i think its the original) and I have tiger..should i reinstall tiger? i dont know what to do
