Hi all,
Replaced my 2007 iMac with a new Mac Mini.
My printer/scanner (HP Photosmart C4680) worked fine with the iMac running Snow Leopard.
It prints fine on the Mini running Mt Lion 10.8.4, but the scanning is useless.
It might scan 1 doc OK, then just locks up the Mini.
I have run software update but no joy.
The printer is directly wired to the Mini.
Anyone have a similar issue?

Thanks

Try downloading the Mt Lion software direct from HP - link.

Hi Bobtomay,
I have tried that. The HP web page just directs you to Apple's software update, so far as I can tell. I can't see a specific link to an HP driver!

Bottom line might be to get a dedicated scanner, as I scan much more than I ever print. But which one can I guarantee to work?

Think my HP may be a little newer, the C5180 and don't know which app you're using to scan with.

The HP Scan app does not work at all here with the latest May '13 HP drivers.

Image Capture still works pretty well though.

You can also try Preview and the Print and Scan from the System preferences.

I've tried all those with the same dire results.
I am beginning to think that there is something fundamentally wrong with the scanning software, or my new Mini has a problem.

also, I will try to speak with Apple support, but apparently they don't work weekends here in Europe.

Update:
I spoke with Apple and it now works.
I forgot to try resetting the SMC.

Hope this might jog someones memory if they get a similar issue.
