So my router crashes probably at least once a day, especially when I'm using BitTorrent, and I have to reset it. It resets pretty fast and my Windows notebook pretty much just picks right back up where it left of before I reset it. The problem is about half of the time my Mac won't find a connection after the router restarts - I've found if I go into Prefs > Software Update and force it to check now that will force it to connect and it will work. Usually it won't do anything and I have to actually restart the Mac to get it to connect to the router again.

Any help or suggestions?

That is really just luck of the draw. Anytime your router loses a signal, you should just power-cycle the entire setup. Even if your computers regain a signal, it is probably best to do the power-cycle anyway.
