I hope that I find help here. I have a mp530 canon and Ive been trying to print in black ink instead of color. Ive look up and down on the setting of the mp530, Ive looking inside and out on the section where I click print under the file section on safari. But I cant seem to find the settings. Please help.Im about to throw this print out a window.

It really depends on the Canon driver.

I have HP printers. The dialogue that appears when you click print... has 'black and white' or colour options as well as a number or presets 'black', 'greyscale', 'colour' etc.

If the printers driver doesn't offer this function you may be a little stuck.

You could try saving to PDF (open in Preview) then Export using the Black and White Quartz filter from the export dialogue.

I thought the Canon drivers had tis option but maybe not. I looked all over my Pixma MP990 last night and can't find that option. I am almost certain I have done that before. Maybe I was using the Gutenprint drivers at the time.
