Strange situation, my external HDD does not show on the top right of the desktop when connected but Serato see the music on the HDD, any ideas why it's not showing on the desktop and is there any other way to see the HDD's contents?

Check your Finder preferences, General tab. See if you have a check in the box that says "hard disks" under "Show these items on the desktop".
