I was trying to update my iPhone 3 (I know, it's old) and everything was going well until I reached the activation part. I connected to our WiFi and tried to activate my phone. But it didn't succeed at all. All it said was that it wasn't able to activate my phone at this time.

I have tried this with my other iPhone 3 before and the exact same thing happened. I was never able to use it ever again. I later tried using iTunes to activate it. It was a little bit faster than the other process but it said the exact same thing!

Can someone please help me? I now don't have my own personal alarm clock :p

And iTunes is up to date, it is version 10.0.4

Thanks

Do you have an Apple Store nearby? If so, perhaps you can take it in and ask them why it doesn't activate. If not, you can give Apple customer care a call and ask them if this should work or not..

Have a look at this kb Article from Apple iOS: Unable to update or restore and if no joy there, try putting it into DFU Mode.

Hold the Home and Power On button for 10 seconds exactly and release the Power On button (the top one) then and continue too hold down the Home Button for a further 5-8 seconds. Connect to iTunes and see what happens.
