Hi...the subject pretty much explains the situation...if I'm using the computer (MacBook Pro) it's all right, but if I leave it for a short while, even if it's downloading something, it will log out and require me to log in again...hoping someone can help me fix this...thank you...

My first thought is to check System Preferences. Go into the Energy Saver and give the Energy Saver preferences a quick check. Specifically check the settings in the schedule area and see if anything is out of whack.

Did not think of this earlier but give these settings a look as well if you haven't already.

I'm not sure the following will work since I don't use Console much but this might be worth a try. The next time you are using the machine let it do its thing as usual. Once you notice that it has logged you out restart and check Console logs. See what messages were there between the time you walked away and the time it logged out. The entries during that time might give you a clue. Especially if you notice an entry right before logout.

I am not sure which log it will be in but my bet is the System log.

BTW Is there anything in Login Items for your account that might be causing this?

No problem. I knew I had seen settings for that somewhere. It took a couple of shots feeding the freat Google monster to find the answer.

Nice one my friend. I had forgotten all about that setting, good to be reminded that it exists. :)

I had forgotten about those settings as well. I usually set them once and rarely change them. I was annoyed that I didn't get the answer right away without consulting the great Google monster.
