There is a used 2012 MacBook Air 13.3" on eBay for $825. The purchase is validated and it is under warranty until January 14, 2014.

It has the 128 gb solid state drive, Intel Core i5 1.8 ghz, and 4 gb of ram.

It is listed as used but like new.

I'm just wondering if this is a good deal or not.

Thank you,
Logan

I'm not ever in favor of buying a used Mac from eBay. That's my personal opinion, however, many folks have successfully purchased computers including Macs from eBay.

I would first go to the Apple refurbished site and see what they have if you're really interested in a 2012 13" MBA. Apple warrants them the same as a new machine and Apple care can be purchased. Keep in mind that the memory in a MBA can not be upgraded while the flash drive can (but expensive). You may wind up finding a refurbished 13" MBA there with 8 GB of memory for just a bit more.

Apple Refurbs

To find out how much the one you're interested in is worth, compare the price with others on eBay and Craig's list. There is also the Mac2Sell site which gives an approximate value street price.

I'll second chscag's recommendation of the Apple Refurb store, especially for the MBA. Since it has to be configured with the memory at build time, having more is always good. Additionally, being able to get the 3 year of AppleCare is great.

The current gen 13" MBA is like $1099 for essentially the same specs (newer CPU and more SSD storage though) so the $825 price is not that good for all that you are missing..

I checked the refurb. store earlier (shortly after OP posted)...no 13" refurbed MBA's currently available.

@OP: Keep checking the Apple refurb. store. The stok can change hourly or daily...so a 13" 2012 MBA may show up at any time.:)

I've checked the refurb store off and on for a few days and no 13" MBA; I'll just have to hold out.

Right now, the MacBook Air models are hot items according to MacWorld and PC Magazine. They are very popular. You might just be better off ordering a new one direct from Apple if you can afford it.
