I cannot receive incoming mail on my Mac. I can send. I am writing to you from my iPad,

Can you tell me how I can find my IMAP Path Preference? This seems to be what my computer is looking for but the field is blank. I am not sure how it got that way.
MAIL: 5.3 (1283) OS 10.7.5

Many thanks in advance,

John

That info comes from your email server/owner.

What email service are you using?

Yes - that info would be provided by the email service you are using - not the software application you are using to read your mail.

If using an:
@gmail.com address - gmail provides that info
@att.com - at&t provides that info
etc.

Hello Bob,
I did call AT&T and it seems I read your kind reply without my full attention.

I need to reach my mac mail server.

Have you any idea how to do that in a timely manner? The address I am having trouble with is [email protected]. I have no idea of where to start with Apple Support.

Best wishes,

John

Hi John - after reading the posts in this thread, I'm still not clear whether you understand the correct IMAP server to use? Attached is my 'Mail Accounts' preferences dialog box (personal info erased) - I use Yahoo Mail and you can see the STMP (outgoing) & IMAP (incoming) choices, for Yahoo, their IMAP server is 'imap.mail.yahoo.com' - so, what account(s) are you using? Plenty are available and can be added - I'm assuming that AT&T is your ISP and that you are not using their mail servers? Guess we need some more information - good luck! Dave :)

Incoming Mail Server Window

Thank you Dave.

I was just looking at the link Bobtomay kindly sent to me. It has the info. (Thank you Bob!) and I logged in the IMAP orference.

Now a new problem: I cannot open a window to offer the correct info for Incoming Mail Server. It is grayed out.

I tried to attach a screen grab but it was not accepted. (4Mforum.jpg:
This TIFF image has the incorrect file extension).

Always learning with gratitude,

John

To insert a pic - hit the "Go Advanced" button below the message box.
On the next page that opens, scroll down to and click on "Manage Attachments"

That opens another page - select the screen shot you want to attach and upload it - close that window and submit reply.
