Mac OS X Mountain Lion - Java Isn't Working

Hey, I know it is probably an easy fix! But it's been like this since I updated it, my Java isn't working, and it says "Missing Plugin" in all of my browsers, but I downloaded the latest updates.

If this is with Safari, go into preferences > Security and make sure 'Allow Java' and 'Allow all other plug ins' are ticked.

It says my Java is enabled, is there a way I can uninstall it and redownload it?

Wouldn't it be better to simply download and install the latest version?
