Checking my BlueTooth connections on my iMac.
When browsing for devices, the first thing that pops up is: BlackBerry 9790 Smartphone.
I cannot browse this device nor can I send anything to this device.
I do not own a BlackBerry and no-one else in the house owns one either.
Yet the device stubbornly sits on the list of devices.
The only thing bluetooth connected to my computer are my keyboard, mouse and iPhone4s.

Can anyone suggest how I can get rid of this listing.

Someone with a Blackberry must have been in your house at some point and the Bluetooth on that device must have been on, that's about the only way I can think of.

Either way, go to System Preferences, click Bluetooth, Devices, and if the BlackBerry is listed there, select it and delete it. This technique might only work if you've actually paired with the device, which you seem not to have done..

A second, more destructive option, is to delete the file com.apple.Bluetooth.plist from ~/<username>/Library/Preferences. A less destructive variation on this is to open the plist file and only delete the entries you don't want. Refer to this thread for that method.

Thank you for the reply.
You are correct in that I never paired with the device.
I can find two .plist files with the name Bluetooth in it.
com.apple.BluetoothFileExchange.plist
com.apple.BluetoothSetupAssistant.plist
Neither of these contains any recognizable information.

However I cannot find: com.apple.Bluetooth.plist
